Hello,
I’m Craig.
I began in software engineering and later moved through product design and product management. It’s a useful combination: I can ask why we’re building something, consider how people will use it, and worry just enough about whether it will actually work.
Outside work I write about Japanese folklore, learn about cultures and languages, take photographs, wander around the Lake District and acquire hobbies at an alarming rate. Most require books. A few require boots. All seem to require tea.
Work with me ↗
One mind.
Many rabbit holes.
I’m interested in why people do things, how systems fit together and what we can learn from unfamiliar traditions. The result is a career in design and a bookshelf that may eventually need structural engineering.
UX & product design
Finding the right problem, untangling the complicated bits and building digital products that make sense to actual humans.
Writing & folklore
Ghosts, yōkai, samurai, forgotten customs and the stories people tell when the lights go out.
Nature & exploring
A good walk, a waterfall, a proper cup of tea and the occasional glorious absence of Wi-Fi.
Let’s make
something
matter.
Working on an awkward digital problem? Planning a useful product? Or simply wondering why a designer writes about Japanese ghosts? I’m happy to talk.

Tell me what you’re trying to make, what’s getting in the way and what success would look like. A short explanation is fine. I promise not to demand a 94-slide strategy deck.
